On the 21st of July, Redefining Red took place at the Government Girls School in Porur. Organized with the aim of shattering the silence surrounding menstruation and promoting menstrual hygiene, this event was for the students of the school, creating a safe and intimate environment for open discussions and learning. The event aimed to equip young women with vital knowledge about menstruation, enabling them to navigate this natural process with confidence and pride.The event started with few cultural activities like singing and dancing.Post this the event featured two gynecologists who played a vital role in educating the girls between 6th and 8th grade about menstruation.The gynecologists took special care to address prevalent myths and taboos. They provided scientifically accurate information, debunking misconceptions that often lead to stigma and shame.To encourage active participation, a dedicated question-and- answer session was organized after each presentation. The students eagerly asked their doubts and queries, receiving clear and supportive responses from the gynecoIogists.The knowledge gained during the event is expected to empower these young girls as they embark on their transformative journey through adolescence and womanhood.This event is highly expected to be a project in future.
